Why Categories Exist
Categories exist so your story doesn't come out all at once. They create a rhythm, almost like scenes in a film: self-awareness, everyday life, chemistry, beliefs, intimacy. Each one highlights a different angle of who you are, which makes the experience richer and more alive than a static profile.
Chapters as Story Arcs
Every chapter feels like a mini-episode. You might start with an opener that's easy to share, then move into something more personal. Piece by piece, you're creating an arc that someone else can step into and follow. It's storytelling in motion, letting people see you in ways that feel natural and layered.
Why Gradual Unlock Matters
Your first category, Before We Meet, comes together during your application : your Book Cover, Bio, Gallery, and its three chapters (Alright, Here's Me; A Day in My Life; My People) are what our team reviews before you're let in. Once you're in, you can keep adding chapters to any category whenever inspiration strikes.
What unlocks gradually is what other people get to read. Before We Meet is the only category visible to people browsing your profile on the For You page. Everything else stays private until you match, and even then, it opens up one category at a time (see Post Match Chapters), so the best parts of your story get discovered slowly, not dumped all at once.
A Writer's POV
From your side, categories give you clarity. You know exactly what kind of energy you're writing into, whether it's playful, flirty, or grounded. And it's about balance: giving people just the right glimpse of you before it turns into a first date. Along the way, you often catch pieces of yourself you didn't expect to put into words. A Reader's POV
For readers, the experience is just as layered. Before We Meet is visible on the For You page, that's your first glimpse, the spark of curiosity. But everything else? That's private. Only your matches get to read more of your book, and only gradually, because your story is sacred, and you should decide who earns the rest of it. Once you match, you're not asking “what's your favorite color?”, you're talking about something they've already chosen to share, straight from their book.
